Country girl
I am a country girl
Trying to survive the big city
Driving in Sydney is no joke
Even with google maps, it’s a pity!
It’s not the maps fault
It’s the scared driver
Tunnels and tolls
The speed and multi- channel roads
Simple people feel information overload
The cars pushing behind the bumper
They won’t let one go slow
Oh, I missed my exit again
What a blow !
I have done the Sydney harbour bridge twice; exited into Kirribilli
Enjoyed North Sydney views
Done my share of chilling !
One man’s dream, drawn by the other
Meticulously calculated by a genius
and erected by yet another
Between the engineers and workers
Man created mountain height structures
I salute the daring Will of man
I know it’s not natural and all
But look at the skyscraper’s
Talking to us all !
Giving the message to stand tall !
Who’s dream, whose mind
Whose money and who’s paying
That’s another days tale
Today, just enjoy it girl !
Back in the car again
Clammy hands, shaking knees
God, help me find the way, please !
I started from St. Lenards,
Followed the sign to Lane Cove
Passed the Gladesvill Bridge
crossed the Paramatta river
And went past Anzac Bridge
Enjoyed the Aussie flag on both peaks
I made a mistake somewhere
Ended up on Harbour Bridge again !
O golly gosh, please save my ass !
My phone’s battery is almost flat
I am lost with directions
What’s the chance without that !
Damn these roads and
damn these exits
I have finally arrived home
Feel jet lagged, as if
I have been around the globe
Almost safe and sound
10% battery in the phone
and my perseverance almost gone
